Who Are We?
LFD's mission is to encourage community involvement and promote high-quality roleplay through Public Relations, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Suppression. The Fire Department trains our members to handle a wide variety of diverse, exciting, and challenging situations we encounter daily. These range from cardiac arrests and diabetic emergencies to wildland firefighting, search and rescue operations, structure fires, and much more. We are dedicated to saving lives and protecting property for the citizens of Kentucky.
What Do We Offer?
As a member of Lexington Fire, you will have the opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and expand your knowledge and skill set through the diverse range of call types we respond to daily. You will face challenging situations that yield rewarding results, all while having the full support of the Fire Chain of Command and our department resources to help you advance through the ranks. You can join our subdivisions, explore various roles, and develop your character's integrity. We provide a high-quality, immersive style of roleplay, continually striving for excellence with every patrol one firefighter at a time.
Fire Marshal's Office
- Employees of the Lexington Fire Department's Fire Marshal's Office (FMO) are responsible for efficiently investigating all types of reported fires across the State of Kentucky. They also work to prevent fires by organizing public events and conducting inspections statewide. A Fire Marshal should be requested by first responder personnel at the end of an active fire scene to search for evidence of foul play or suspicious activity that may indicate human intervention in the cause of the fire. Consequently, the Fire Marshal's Office holds jurisdiction over fire and arson-related investigations throughout Kentucky.
Fire Academy Office
- The LFD Fire Academy is dedicated to the training, certification, and ongoing education of Kentucky Fire's frontline firefighters and paramedics. We offer a wide range of courses, including Truck Operations, Tanker Operations, HAZMAT, Incident Command, Paramedic Training, Flight Paramedic Training, Wildland Firefighting, and Rescue Techniques. Our Training Officers are committed to providing the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure our department is fully prepared for any emergency situation.
Division of Special Operations
- The Division of Special Operations provides support for various emergency situations, including Water Rescue, Air Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Technical Rescue, Helicopter Medical Evacuations, and Search and Rescue, among others. With resources like AirMed and AirRescue, the DSO ensures that LFD firefighters are certified as Flight Paramedics, enabling them to operate aircraft and conduct dive rescues to ensure citizens receive safe medical assistance at all costs.
